Character Hate Art is Extremely Immature

i'm going to be frank here, we all have those characters we don't like however i would never draw extreme hate art out of them or even reduce them to something they're not (the most common i have seen is people's hated character being a whiny crybaby or getting beaten up). you don't have to like said character but honestly, be mature and represent the character properly. if you're going to be doing fanart or writing a story that uses a character you hate, please just keep them in character trust me, it will make your work a thousand times better. plus, just because you hate x character from a cartoon show or video game doesn't mean others feel the same way as you (not counting those who conform to someone else's opinion as a means of impressing them).

it doesn't help that i've seen people trying to justify their hate art when being told that they're being petty and immature rather than just a) ignoring the character altogether completely or b) being the mature person and interpreting in character correctly. what's worse is when people with this mindset are asked why they hate this specific thing or character, most of the time it's either because said character is mean or something which is completely unrelated to the show. well newsflash, we can all be mean, it's called a flaw. hating a character because they have flaws alone is pathetic. after all, flaws and imperfections are the things that make us human. for example, antagonists exist for a reason; to create conflict and allow for plot/character build up and development. there are also different types of antagonists (villains and anti-villains which completely differ from one another) as well as protagonists (heroes and antiheroes) and both groups create conflict, both good and bad.

in my honest opinion, anyone who does this looks 1000x more immature because they can't stop obsessing over a character to the point where they want to hurt them physically (even worse when its a real person people who treat real people are fictional characters are pretty questionable to begin with). i have seen people who are older than me do this and that's really saying something, especially if you're becoming an adult and still do something petty as this.

i would add more but i feel that i emphasized myself enough.
